The course will be focused on three major directions:

• 1. Epilepsy in children in which we will discuss the MRI indications, protocol and findings used to delineate between congenital malformations, posttraumatic epilepsy, tumoral lesions, vascular lesions, mesial temporal sclerosis and other type of epileptogenic lesions;
• 2. Sectional Imaging in pediatric liver tumors in which we will present the imaging methods and the correct imaging algorithm used to explore a tumoral hepatomegaly and a clinical suspicion of liver mass, followed by the typical imaging findings in pediatric liver tumors;
• 3. Radio-imaging aspects in reno-urinary congenital obstructive pathology, focused on the main indications and limits of each radio-imaging method, and by the typical imaging aspects that allow a correct diagnostic.
  Each topic will be illustrated with teaching file cases.

Choosing the right journal for your work has never been more important. There are so many journals to choose from and the competition to be published in the best journals has never been stronger. So, how do you pick the right journal for your work and how can you improve your chances of being published?

Dr Ian Wacogne (Birmingham Children's Hospital) and Richard Sands (BMJ) will show you how to tell the difference between a ‘predatory’ and a reputable journal. They will take you behind the scenes of the decision-making process at one of the world’s leading paediatrics journal, Archives of Disease in Childhood (www.adc.bmj.com) and tell you how to avoid the common mistakes that many authors make.

They will explain the basics of what makes a good paper, what editors look for, why articles get rejected without review, what resources are available to improve your writing and how to respond to editors and peer reviewers. This session is suitable for early-career researchers or more experienced authors.

The workshop will discuss how to perform and assess lung function in school and preschool children by different techniques. The tests to evaluate airway hyper responsiveness, their significance and application in the clinical practice will be also presented. At the end of the session the participants will be able to interpret the results of lung function testing and bronchial challenges in children.

Brief description of the course: this is an abbreviated version of a well structured course on the basics in Paediatric Intensive Care (Paediatric Basic Assessment in Intensive Care). Its aim is to help health care professionals that deal with a critically ill child learn and then teach a skill - insertion of an intraosseous line and defibrillation. Participants will also run a clinical scenario followed by debriefing. This course is intended to serve as an introduction to the Paediatric BASIC course.

This is a video session and all presentations will be based on videos relevant for the indicated topics.It will present in an interactive way: 1. clues to identify epileptic and nonepileptic events;2. the most important situations when video-EEG recordingsshould be indicated, and also 3. when to think at a mitochondrial/ lysosomal disorder (pattern recognition). General practitionair is the first in contact with the chld with a neurological disorder, therefore he should either identify the disease, or to know what investigations to indicate.
